I don't know about you, but having 3 children of my own has been quite a learning experience when it comes to obtaining a "usable photo". "Usable photo" loosely defined as the picture where the majority of the participants are not about ready to cry! Dread is one of the many words that come to mind when thinking about picture day...ugh. The moment in time being captured shouldn't be the moment right before your child has a meltdown.
With that said, my passion for photography has grown as our family has grown. Countless hours have been dedicated to creating an environment that was once dreadful to one that is now fun and exciting.
I specialize in natural light photography, which offers a wide variety of benefits that most studios cannot offer. The most important thing in obtaining that great usable photo is the environment! By taking advantage of natural light, there are no limits on specific backdrops or small uncomfortable studio spaces, which then eliminate the pressure to perform. This is very advantageous when dealing with children, large groups, families and even seniors. Naturally, we are more at ease in environments which we are familiar with. One way to ensure great portraits is to take advantage of comfortable environments, like backyards and parks.
