Week 5: Day 30

Blood Mary

Bloody Mary

Ingredient List:
  • 2 tbs Claussen pickle juice
  • 2 Dashes of Worcestershire Sauce
  • Dash of Celery Seed
  • Dash of All Season Salt
  • Dash of Ground Pepper
  • Dash of Hot Sauce (optional)
  • 1oz Vodka
  • V8 Original Vegetable Juice
  • Garnish with:
    • Claussen pickle spear
    • Garlic stuffed olives
    • Green olives
    • A combination of pickles and olives.
Directions:
  1. Fill a large glass with ice.
  2. You can choose to salt the rim with All Season Salt (Lawry's) by pouring lime juice on a plate, placing the rim in the juice, them dipping the rim in All Season Salt, which is poured on a seperate plate.
  3. Add pickle juice, Worcestershire sauce, celery seed, all season salt, ground pepper, hot sauce and vodka.
  4. Fill the remain part of the glass with V8.
  5. Stir.
Now I know many people like those flavored vodkas, but I assure you, plain is just as good as the bacon flavor vodka, plus there are many more uses for plain vodka, than bacon!  Our local winery, Cedar Ridge, makes a great vodka!

The pickle juice MUST be Claussen's.  It just won't taste the same!  I promise!  I keep an empty jar in the fridge that I add to when we finish up a jar of pickles.  (Not that I would ever drink it straight from the jar!  There is no proof of that!)

I love V8 verses regular tomato juice because it is thicker!  I really love the consistency.  If you must use a mix, Major Peters is THE best!  However, you can make 2 1/2 drinks out of one bottle and it costs twice as much!

If you are going to go heavy on the seasoning, which I always do, the only exception is the celery seed.  A dash is really all you need because it's gritty and strong.

"These are super healthy because the alcohol burns all the calories out, right?!"
