Week 5: Libations and Lies

So this weeks theme is going to focus around some of my favorite adult beverages and lies I tell myself, some good, some bad.

Bartending has become quite a distinguished profession in the sense that mixed drinks are no longer called "mixed drinks", they are called "libations".  Bartenders are no longer called "bartenders", they are "mixologists" or "tapsters" or "tapstress".    It's crazy!

Accoding to Merriam-Webster  :

Definition of LIBATION

  1. Definition
    1. a: an act of pouring a liquid as a sacrifice (as to a deity)
    2. b: a liquid (as wine) used in a libation
  2. Definition
    1. a: an act or instance of drinking often ceremoniously
    2. b: beverage; especially: a drink containing alcohol

I found that definiton to be EXTREMELY interesting from the Christian perspective and the movement of Christianity when it was young.  Most believed in Greek or Roman Gods, like Dionysus, who was the God of wine.  So it's easy to see why Christians saw/see that drinking was/is a sin.

Definition of LIE
  1. to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive
  2. to create a false or misleading impression
So stay tuned for recipes and lies I like to tell myself!
